Why battery support matters

Batteries let you store excess solar for evening use and keep critical loads running during outages. Upfront cost has been the main barrier. Federal and state programs that reduce that cost make storage far more accessible for homes and small businesses.

Federal support

The Australian Government has introduced and expanded support for household batteries (including the Cheaper Home Batteries style programs). Support is typically delivered as a discount on the upfront cost of eligible battery systems, often calculated per usable kilowatt-hour of capacity.

Eligibility, capacity limits, and the dollar value per kWh change over time. We always quote using the current federal settings so the net price you see is accurate.

State programs (VIC & NSW)

Victoria — Solar Victoria and related programs have included support for solar batteries for eligible households. Combined with federal incentives, this can significantly reduce the net cost of a solar + battery package.

NSW — Interest-free loan schemes (including Home Energy Saver style programs) can be used for battery storage as well as solar. ESCs may also apply to certain upgrades. See our NSW schemes page and Current Offers for live details.
